DFI Lanparty DK 790FXB-M3H5 Boot Up Issues

Hello All,

After recently receiving an RMA replacement which was surprisingly a new board I can't get it to post.

Via the onboard diagnostic tool, it says "18" after checking my book there is nothing listed for that error code.

Another Issue I noticed, there is supposed to be a light for the DRAM that comes on to show that it is receiving power. This light does not come on, however I do not know if it is simply a non functioning light or that the DRAM slots are not receiving power. The DRAM is not defective, as I was using it in another computer as well.

However, upon testing and trying to boot up w/o any ram installed. I receive error C1 (trying to detect ram) and then it halts there.

The error codes are listed here. http://img.lanparty.tw/Upload/FAQ/CM/en_US/DebugCode_en.htm

I have tried booting up with simply just the board and the ram and nothing else hooked up. Same Result. i have tried different hard drives. With or with out video card.

I have tried reseting the CMOS. Tried removing the battery while its unplugged, and reseting the CMOS.

Honestly Stumped, and don't know where to go from here.

Any Ideas would be appreciated.

What memory do you have and what memory is compatible with the board, if that checks out try 1 dimm at a time.
It sounds like bad ram or wrong ram I have had issues with DFI boards being choosy about RAM.

I have tried each stick separately in all four of the slots.

The RAM is OCZ PC3 10666 DDR 1333.

I just looked at DFIs Recommended ram for the motherboard, it is not listed. Only ocz ram supported is this.

DDR III 1600 OCZ 2048 OCZ OCZ3X1600LV6GK Double2048OCZ3X1600LV6GKOCZDouble
DDR III 1600 OCZ 1024 OCZ OCZ3FXT20002GK Single1024OCZ3FXT20002GKOCZSingle
DDR III 1600 OCZ 2048 OCZ OCZ3P20004GK Double2048OCZ3P20004GKOCZDouble
DDR III 1600 OCZ 1024 OCZ OCZ3P16002GK Single1024OCZ3P16002GKOCZSingle

I am hoping that is the issue, however I was hoping to use that in the mean time until my RMA'd ram comes back.

If its not a RAM issue what else could it be?

If it isnt RAM only three things left to check, CPU, PSU, Mobo in that order.
Never heard of a DFI board failing out of the box.

All of those are brand new. I had a power supply fail and fry everything in my system. Killed everything. Everything is brand new except the video card (that was refurbished). So quite possibly could be the ram, seeing how its not listed. Heres hoping the issue will be fixed when I get that back.

OCZ's 1333 is garbage for two reasons:
1. rated settings (always 1333 9-9-9-20 at an unacceptable 1.65V)
2. very high DOA rate, especially on OCZ Gold

Abandon ship! You may have defective memory first of all, but second of all I would replace it anyway.

Agreed, one hopes that that is the issue, the advice from xd1771 rings true, I don,t use DDR3 or know all of its ins and outs.
I cant believe those timings (9-9-9-20)@1.65V
I would nearly be getting more done with my Oced DDR2 800 @ 993Mhz (4-4-4-15) @ 2.2V.
The saving grace may be the Excessive amount of Memory tweeking options that most DFI boards have.
Hope it all works out for you.

do you not have a multi meter to check voltage?
