Rampage III: Formula vs Extreme

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

I am looking at these benches before purchasing my motherboard for my Rampag3 mod.

It will be primarily a gaming PC. Future specs:
i7 950
3x2GB Crucial Ballistix Tracers DDR3-1333MHz CL7
EVGA GTX570
Seasonic X-750W
OCZ Vertex 2 E Series 60GB
+ some other bits

These benches show that the Extreme / Gene boards score better FPS than the Formula, which I was originally intent on buying.

As of now, the Formula is $500NZD vs the Extreme $615NZD. The Gene is $420NZD

Is the extra $115NZD worth the differences?

Basically needing some advice for choosing a board.

I'm using RIIIFormula as of now. I did run into some DIMM socket RAM incompatibility problems but it was fixed promptly without a hassle... Save the 100$ and use that to buy a nice graphic card! This is only my opinion.
I think the 100$ difference in MOBOs is hardly noticeable in gaming rigs..

*Extra note* also, the features on RIIIFormula are just more than enough for any serious OCers.. The extra 100$ in more features won't get you much then again, I guess you weren't looking for that. Unless you're just a benchmark freak

i would save your money and buy sandybridge it cost the same money but sandybridge is a 32nm and it will do as good as a 980x for $300

read some more the 9 series i7 are out dated expect for the 980x which i own but i kinda want sandybridge for that 5.0ghz overclock you can hit on air

@optimuspotts

For the money that the R3F cost you probably get a i5 2500K and a decent P67 board and it will perform better, what the h**k, you can probably even get the i7 2600K and a P67 board for the same money as the R3F cost, I say, don´t waste the money on a X58 setup, go for the Sandy Bridge.

About the R3F and R3E and gaming, it seem that both performce bad in gaming when one push the QPI to around 4000MHz and above, if it´s below 4000MHz, they both do just fine.
