AMD athlon II x4 640 overclocking - Page 2

It Can be done I hit 3.75 on the 640 but notice the high voltage. Once you start upping your ram timings, ht/Nb Freq it wont be stable through the first 3 tests of prime. I will bet 3.6 is your max oc on that chip with true stability. Currently you have your NB freq at ~2000 but your HT is turned way down. Turn it up as your not saving any stability.

The New cooler is a must. Any Heatpipe High rise will do really. Like several have said the Hyper 212+ is the most bang for the buck. I have the TX3 which is the Hypers little cousin and my temps never hit 50c under full load.

these are pictures of my bios and the settings i can edit

i can change the CPU multiplier to maximum x10 it is at the default setting auto i have not touched it and i can only change cpu ht link speed to max 1GHZ and thats default auto thats all it shows

Okay, I see something. I went to the EGG to look at the specs for your MOBO. The HT is 1000MHZ. Its the first AM3 DDR3 board I have seen with the AM2+ HT Speed. I am sure there are more out there, but there cannot be that many.

Should not be a problem however. Just manually move the HT down to ~1000.

Set your voltage and fsb back to stock and then look it up in CPU-z, it will tell you what your base voltage is and that can help you get the math right. If it is 1.325v and you want 1.5v you would
do 1.5v-1.325v= .175v = +175mv setting.

+25mv = .025v
+50mv = .05v
+75mv = .075v
+100mv = .1v
+125mv = .125v
etc.

For the voltage add +100MV which should be .1v which would either give you 1.45 if it is off the base of 1.35v or 1.5 if it is off of the current voltage. Change the voltage offset and verify it in CPU-z.
ok i will do and how do i measure case fans diagonally or vertically i just noticed my case fits 2 on the front of it

Vertically. From edge to edge.

Take inches multiply times 25.4
