Return GTX 460 and get GTX 560?

Thread Starter
I bought a gigabyte gtx 460 SOC after christmas(but before the new year) and i am still within the 30 day return policy. I have and extra $50 gift card i can use toward the difference $219 vs $279.
Will the GTX 560 really worth the hassle of returning the card vs the extra performance.(I may have to wait till next week to really know that awnser) I have till the 29th of January to return it.

I don't see the point to be honest. If I was to return a GTX460 I would go for the GTX580.

Return it on the 28th then get the 560.

yes is my answer.
I mean if your lucky ur 460 will oc to 920-950mhz. The soc model comes at 820/1640/4000, which is almost the same as stock 560. Add that plus the extra shaders and better efficiency of the gf114 and you got yourself a winner. You have time let that be your judge.

My guess is that the 560 is going to offer a significant performance benefit over a 460, probably well worth the $60 price difference. The boost in cores alone should yield around 15% perf boost, then you have the improvements to z-culling algorithms, plus the much higher clocks, plus it'll probably be quieter/cooler (esp. clock for clock) ...

I'd trade up if it were me

I'd say it could be worth it for you only because you paid on the high side for a 460. I just ordered a MSI Hawk 460 that will be <$160 after rebate, free shipping. I noticed though, not many deals after new year. At your gaming resolution though, I'd almost wait for benches. The 560 at a 1600 x ? res may not be huge, it's probably going to be sweet at 1900 and up.

Does the GTX460 make you happy? I mean is there any case you feel ur card is not powerful enough. If so, return and get one GTX560. The performance boost is expected to be significant.

560 is roughly on par with a 6870.. at least from the scores I've seen..

And it's rumored the 560 will be ~$30-$40 more than a 6870. If it's not, great!
