Multi GPU on Maximus III Formula help

Thread Starter
It does 8x/8x/4x if all 3 slots are occupied. Can someone tell me if I crossfire 5850 reference card using 1 red slot and 1 white slot, will I run in 8/8 or 8/4? The reason I am asking is because using 2 red slots will not allow me to use my PCI sound card since there wont be any space

16/4, if not the other red one is in use, if one use both the red ones it´s 8/8/4.

The two red one goes to the CPU and the white one is through the P55 chipset.

Can´t you use the PCI thats between the two red ones?

5850 only take two slots, so that one should be free to use.

If your sound card is one slot like this one below it should be okay and it shouldn´t block the air intake of the 5850.

Well I just swapped slots for my sound card and GPU and one capacitor on the card is touching the back retention plate of the 5850. But both of them ARE working.

Nice to hear that it worked out okay, you´re welcome to come by the **Asus Maximus III Formula Owners Thread** if you have any more questions or if you just want stop by and say hello.

No need to excuse yourself, if one have a question, one post in forum like this to get help no matter how noobish.

In my opinion AFQ gave you a rude answer, not very helpful, instead he could just kindy said "that it should work alright because I ran a SLI setup with a soundcard between" or even shown a picture of his setup.

Okay, I see, nice to hear that he just was kidding

I have see a lot of rudeness and hostility here at OCN lately and specially towards newcomers and noobs, so therfore I stated my opinion about his post, kind of hard to tell sometimes if one kidding or not.
