Should I Lap My Rasa?

Should I lap it? There is a little wiggle in the reflection on the bottom, this wiggle is right in the middle of the block though. I made sure it was totally clean but the wiggle still persists.

Verify you've got a good mount. If you do, remove the block and check the TIM pattern. Chances are, it's not the block that's uneven, it's your cpu.

Unless your temps are bad I wouldn't lap it. You may very well keep that block longer than your current cpu.

If you're not in any hurry I'd go ahead and do it. It might not do anything for you, but if you're flushing your parts out, getting everything setup and want to make sure you get the most out of it, go ahead and do it.

Ever the more reason to just go ahead and do it now and never have to think about pulling it off to do it.

Hmm, so lapping makes it so you can't keep the block? Also, my higher temps could be because I am using the TIM that came with the block, it's probably pretty crappy.

EDIT: As for temps, at 1.35VCore and 4.5GHz I idle around 36c. Can't remember my load temps.

You missed the point. If he gets a new cpu, it probably won't have the same uneven attributes as his current one (it could be bowed, it could be concave, there's no way to know), in which case he'll have to redo the job again.

Unless you absolutely have to, I would not lap your rasa block.

Ok, I always thought lapping just made it flat though, does it make it fit the CPU's shape instead? I'm confused.

Normally you would lap both so they're both flat, and normally it's only done in extreme cases where the cpu and/or cooler are very uneven. If your cpu is bowed for example, and you lap your water block, that won't do anything to rectify your bowed cpu. You would have to lap them both in order to make both match up correctly.

The idle temp you mentioned, is that on the cores or the chip itself? If it's the cores, it's not bad.
