800D vs MM U2UFO and how many rads do i really need?

Thread Starter
Ok soon as my tax return goes in im ordering one of these cases. Part of which I order depends on how much cooling i really need. i will be running my i7 920 @ 4.2 and 2 6950's (flashed to 6970) and they will be over clocked as much as possible.

This is my current radiator

http://www.frozencpu.com/products/42...r_-_Black.html

If i got the mountainmods i would be adding another one of those but the XFLOW version, so i would have 2 360's.

If i got the 800D i would rather now have to hack the case apart if i dont need more than a single 360 for the components i listed. So my question is to keep my temps in check will i need more than the single 360 that i have currently?

And any thoughts on the 800D vs the U2UFO in general

your temps will be great with 1 360 rad in the corsair 800d case i would add a fan on the side of the case so the rad can get some more cold air because the corsair case isnt the best air cooling case but a awasome watercooled case

You'll want more than a 360 rad for an overclocked cpu and two 6970s. Ideally, you'd want at least 480 worth of rad.

With the corsair, you can have a 360 up top, and a 240 at the bottom. Or, you can have a 360 at the top and a 120/140 at the rear. Either would be fine for your plans.

With the MountainMods case, you can have anything you want. The case is stupid big.

If you end up purchasing another rad, I recommend you get something like the xspc RX series, or the HWLabs GTX series. Both perform better than the GTS. Also, do not buy X flow rads, they have pretty shoddy performance.

thanks, maybe what i will do is get a GTX 360 for the top and put my current 360 in the bottom, the AX850 that im thinking about getting is pretty short so i could fit a 360 down there if i need to

newegg has a good combo deal on the AX850 and the 800D

I ran my loop on a single RX360 and temps were good.

In terms of the case, get the Mountain Mods. The Corsair isnt going to look so pretty all hacked up like that. The price on a custom powder coat is only 150 which is pretty damn cheap. However, I ordered an extended u2ufo with custom powder coat on 12/10, and it was shipped today, so it'll take a while. I do recommend mountain mods though.

In terms of the rads, get some black ice gtxs those are the best when paired with some high quality fans.

You would definitely need to mod the 800D in order to fit a 360 down there, and you would also need a rather short PSU. If you absolutely want two 360s and you want it all internal, the MountainMods case or a TJ07 are going to be your best bet.

dude, what are you smoking??? prices for the U2UFO start @ $280 and it goes up as you tack on the options. My Mountain Mods Extended Ascension came in @ $550. If your are looking to use multiple rads, then go w/ the MM, if not, the corsair is cheaper and can accomodate a 360 on top, with some mods you can add more rads. Check out my build, I have a 360 and a 240.

the U2UFO i had setup how i wanted was $350.

Its not that i want to run multiple radiators per say but i dont want to have crappy temps.

Newegg has the 800D and the AX850 for $420 together.
