I uninstalled Linux and it deleted my MBR

Thread Starter 
So as you can see in the name of the thread, my MBR is now gone and I cannot find my install disk for Vista. Is there a way i can get it back by booting a program to a flash drive or something?

You are going to need a windows disk, you can go download an iso from (insert download site here) and just use it to repair your installation.

NOTE: Downloading a stock windows disk iso is not illegal in anyway, If you aren't pirating the CD key.

No need to go to any warez websites. If you search Google for "Vista recovery disk" you'll get a bunch of legitimate downloads. The recovery disks are free to download.

put the Windows 7 install disk in
boot to it
pick repair
go to command promt and do
bootrec /fixmbr
press enter
bootrec /fixboot
press enter
restart

There's also a linux recovery method

Assuming you're downloading a Vista recovery disk, once you get into the recovery choose the command prompt option then run the 2 following commands:

bootrec.exe /fixmbr
bootrec.exe /fixboot

You'll be good to go.

can even look for mbr tools and avoid the entire windows download all together.hirens provides soem helpful tools...

maybe upgrade from vista though?
