Using old hard drive (sataII) on new SB build, bad idea?

So I just forked out a good chunk of change on a new sandy bridge build, everything except a new hard drive. The reasoning is I want to wait for price drops on SSDs, and I didn't think a new mechanical hard drive would grant me much performance increase... does this seem correct?

My previous HDD is 640gb 32mb cache 7200rpm sataII. My new mobo supports sataIII but I've read that doesnt matter unless using an SSD.

This is my HDD

I'm concerned I've spent a lot of money and I'm going to be hindered by something small like this.

Thanks guys (and gals)!

i would write the size of the HDD rather than the Cache
On topic!
It shouldn't be a problem. I would just wipe the drive.

Thanks, post edited. And yes I do plan on completely formatting with a fresh Windows install.

That drive would be plenty fast as an OS drive. It will work just fine on that board.
