MSI doesn't seem to be able to answer anything regarding the R6970 Lightning. They can't even manage to provide proper customer service due to out-dated contact information on their website and customer service representatives that don't know anything other than what they've been programmed to know.

How well do the TwinFrozr series of coolers on nvidia cards compare to, say, a Thermalright Shaman?

I have the latter, and if an MSI 570 exists with a twin frozr, I'd like to know because I can't find them

I've already answered this several times, and I'll say it again:

IT IS NOT EOL. Why in the world would we EOL a flagship GPU, months before any suitable replacement is out in the marketplace?????

A bit of thinking can easily resolve this question for you.

As for the website, we switched our site to a new host recently in the past couple of weeks, and from time to time we've had it go down. Still trying to resolve that, but I just sent my own test email to all of the contacts listed above and it works.

As for customer service... they're not going to answer your question because it's something they don't know. Not every single person in the company needs to know GPU shipment schedules, please understand that.

One or the other. The only way to get COMBINED graphics increase is to run Dual Graphics on the new Llano APU w/ select 6000-series GPU.

I am not commenting on future sales/promotions.

(1) I know that crossfiring not-supported card (say a 5770 + 5830) is not officially supported, but if I do what happens ? Say I just attach the crossfire bridge and go to drivers to see if I can enable crossfire - will it all crash and not POST or I just dont see the option in drivers or what ? Or can I just enable it and face the possible instability and lower-than-expected performance as a result of lack of official support in drivers ? Surely somebody has tried it ?

(2) Do you know any good article which explains how crossfire works ? It can be fairly technical - in fact I probably would like it that way. The reason why I ask is some remarks I have seen in various forums hinting that crossfire works a bit differently when one is running Eyefinity as far as video card memory management and rendering modes go, but my google-fu does not seem to be strong enough to be able to dig up some proper whitepaper about it to educate myself in this regard.
Sorry, I'm not AMD.

See above. But I only recommend based on resolution and content. I don't care about anything else.

I posted that a few pages up. It is just between shipments and out of stock. Simple as that.

I have no idea on those aftermarket coolers, and frankly it doesn't matter. Aftermarket coolers often are much larger than what comes out of the box for card makers, and when it comes to thermals size (area/mass) matters.

We have the N570GTX Power Edition available. FYI.

I've done plenty of thinking over the past 2 months, where I've only been able to use the $400 video card that I purchased for 3 weeks out of that time due to poor quality control. Three video cards in a row? NewEgg lost money on that sale, and I lost my respect for your company when you insulted my intelligence.

It's not my fault that MSI didn't properly plan to supply for the demand, and what they did supply has an extremely high complaint rate on most etailers websites due to a high failure rate. The NewEgg representative told me that they've had more RMA's on this video card in the short time that it's been available than any other 6000 series card.

The card that I have now, that is working, is a nice piece of equipment. I'm simply blaming quality control, and customer service lack of ability to provide help with anything outside of their everyday spiel.

As far as whether or not the video card is EoL, your previous attempts at answering that question were only successful in showing that you were just as unsure as everyone else. No one at MSI has been able to definitively answer that question until now. I'll have to take your word for it.

At any rate, I can't do what I'd like with this card. Because of your poor customer service skills and your inability to keep your insults to yourself when dealing with customers, I'm going to be selling this thing and buying something that is made available by the company that produces it. Hopefully a company with decent customer service.

Thanks.

Let me be a bit more clear then:

You asked me if it is EOL. I said no. Here's the rest of the info you want to know:

AMD forecasts shipments maybe one quarter MAX. If we're lucky, 4-6 weeks out. Out of that, we figure out what the entire WORLD needs, and allocates based on that.

Even if we had 1K on order, we'd know at MOST 3 weeks out if it's incoming.

So, given the above information, I answered your question. If you want me to tell you exactly what day it's coming, no I don't know.

If you think all this is an attempt to insult your intelligence, I apologize.

But go back and read what you wrote. You're throwing out insults at customer service reps here that are supposed to help you out, and you refer to them as being "programmed to know" only things they're supposed to know, just because the answer to your question cannot be addressed to your immediate satisfaction.

I don't want to describe it this way, but in the tech world if you buy one part and expect to buy the exact same part weeks/months later (especially an item of high demand), chances are you won't be able to find it.

As for quality control... perhaps Newegg is selling/replacing you with a card that has/is been returned multiple times? There are a LOT of people out there abusing return policies. But if you've only RMA'd with Newegg and no one else, I won't comment any further on that.

Either way, I think you are drawing a conclusion on QC based on a very small sample set and limited amount of contact/experience with one single e-tailer.

2 slot vs 3.

The rest of the arguments (review sites or otherwise) is very subjective. And overclocking headroom is a big wash, since some reference boards OC very well.

Frankly changing the BIOS constitutes physical modification. But keep your stock 6950 BIOS handy.

I bought an MSI socket 939 board years ago, and had to RMA it. Although the RMA was quick, about 2 weeks quicker than Asus, they still forced me to ship it to them even though I live a couple minutes from their office in CA. I wouldnt hesitate to buy again based on that RMA.
