What're you going to be using the server for? Is it just going to be a simple file server?
What OS is it going to be running?
What sites do you prefer to use? (I don't know anything about Australian sites really )

Yes, I am a man of many questions.

The more questions the better!

The server will be a Minecraft server (Minecraft servers aren't as light as you would think so I want as much power as can) and it will also be a file server.

For OS I was going to go with the latest Microsoft server.

In order of most used stores here are their websites (Most used starting at top)
This order also works or the amount of stuff they have instock...

Ah OK, fair enough.

I can't get MSY to load, so I had a look on PCDIY. Scorptec seemed more expensive and I haven't looked at the last one.

I think, for that money, the best you'll be able to get is something like an Athlon II X2, a cheap motherboard, and 4 gigs of cheap RAM. on PCDIY, that's going to cost you $170 at a minimum.
I'm not entirely sure if a server like that would be more CPU or RAM intensive, whichever one it needs more of would be the thing you would want to spend the extra $30ish on.

The only thing I'd mention about that is that the cheapest two AMD motherboards on that site only have 2 memory slots, which would be a pain if you got 4GB to start with and then decided to upgrade to 8GB for whatever reason, because instead of just adding RAM you would have to replace the stuff that you'd already bought.

This is right on, if $200 is the budget it isn't going to be an all rounder, it will be set up for a particular setup.

More details please, including what hard drives you have and what it will be used for.

Agreed, and that extra pair of RAM slots is a good Idea because it looks like the ram is more important for this setup.
It may even be cheaper if you can find an AM2 or 2+ board and use the older and cheaper Phenom/Athlon family using cheaper DDR2 and you may be able to get that extra RAM.

That's a possibility, yeah, but it would probably mean buying used. Not many places stock older AM2 hardware and new DDR2 prices are pretty silly most of the time.

Yeah. MSY seems to be down...

I don't know too much about servers but I remember making a list of parts under $200 but it had DDR3 RAM (DDR3 RAM is only about $1-5 more then DDR2) and a opteron CPU.

I know nothing about the opteron processors soooo... yeeah.

EDIT: The HDD will be a Samsung F2 (I think it is) but then I might get more HDD then put in some RAID with WD Greens.

Or you could go totally left field with something like a Gigabyte GA-D510UD mini-ITX Atom D510CPU onboard DDR2 800 Int VGA PCI.

Its really limited but it is all in one and works great as a home server.

I want the server to run a Minecraft server. It needs power!

I don't think a all in one thing will be powerful enough.
