New i5 2500K Speeds Not Correct? - Page 2

Disable C3 and C6 States. You might as well keep EIST/C1E and C3/C6 all on since it won't hinder performance and your processor will run cooler on idle. I don't understand why people always insist on disabling the features that extend the longevity and reduce power consumption for no performance loss. It's idiotic.

Its not, 1.56.2 is, not easy to find sometimes, but its the only version that works correctly with 2500k/2600k. Thats most likely the reason.

I would just keep the power saving features on unless it's explicitly causing a problem -_-

You need the beta version of cpu z not that one, that version doesn't work with sandy bridge

That is just Intel speed step. Mine says 1.6ghz as well on idle. Run Intel burn test or anything cpu-intensive and it will go right up to 3.3ghz, maybe even 3.7ghz (Intel turbo mode)

a good point,is it really necessary to disable all the power saving features of the cpu

some users report, that they had a drop in ssd performance when enabling those-that was on the x58 platform.

i ran 2 tests on the p67:

1-c1e enabled-c states auto

2-c1e disabled-c states auto

i see no significant differences, but power consumption drops from 265 w to 245 w idle.

i ran of course some full load video encoding test too-no loss of performance.

maybe its a bit softcore, but we should get use to those modern cpu features as there is no disadvantage.

i ran these tests at 4800mhz,so in every day use- moderate oc.

fyi,new version of cpu z is available: 156.3 beta
