Quiet Keyboard

Thread Starter
Hello,

Well my old dell keyboard has seen better days. It works fine but all the keys are really loose and they make a horrible tapping sound every time I press any buttons. I am looking for a new keyboard that is relatively quiet, but I also game a bit, so it should be responsive(?), I don't really need many buttons and features on it just a regular quiet keyboard that's relatively inexpensive. Any suggestions ?

Thanks

Most rubber dome keyboards are going to sound pretty quiet. I would suggest one of the Logitech G series of keyboards for gaming. They are quiet and they feel very good. If you don't want to pay 50 dollars for a keyboard, then consider just going to newegg and looking at the top keyboards. You can always just get a cheap microsoft/logitech one or something like this

My keyboard is pretty quite, at least to most others that I've heard. I can type near silenty if I decide to sacrifice a few WPM. It's a really cheap keyboard, price wise, but in 2 solid years of being used, never once has it had any problem.

Thanks for the responses. Yeah I don't think I want to spend money on a proper gaming keyboard because even my normal dell is fine, just that its loud

Laptop-style switches are very quiet; keyboards with MX Browns/Clears are also relatively quiet, as well as Topre switches (especially on their Low Noise Realforces).

Honestly keyboards with browns/clears are not what I'd call relatively quiet. Much louder then the rubber domes people are used to.

Agreed. But its a way to recommend a Mech to someone.
And compared to other switch types they are somewhat quiet.

Calling something quiet that's louder then what your used to isn't a good way to get someone into mechanical keyboards. One reason I hate Das calling their brown board "silent".

So it sounds like for this application I'd have to suggest a low profile scissor switch board, you can find those for cheap sometimes.
