XFX 5750 Not Working - Think I Got Scammed

So I of course I'm too trusting in people and bought a video card without seeing it working. I put it into my computer, and press the power button and the power light blinks once as I press it and nothing else happens.

Any ideas? Only one I could think of is that my power supply is too weak to run it, but it's 500w and the minimum on the website says 450.

I'm pretty sure that your psu can handle it. It should at least turn on...Try the card in another computer if possible. Make sure that you plugged in all the necessary PCI cables if there are any. Worst case? BAKE IT

That dont sound right to me at all. even if the HD5750 was dead the computer should post. that more sounds like a psu issue or there is something shorting out in the board causing the psu to click into over voltage protection and turn off.

first thing i would do is remove and reinstall the card to see it that fixes it, it might be seated wrong. then id try and find a psu you can borrow or a computer to test the card in other than yours. but im guessing your psu isnt enough. they say 450watt but that is the bear minimum and really you should have more.

All connectors are in and tight check those.

Check to make sure the card is all te way in the pcie slot.

Just a couple of duh type things, but people forget them all the time.

Your PSU is WAY more than enough for that card. I used a TP430 to run a 5850 for several months.

Your OC on your i7 could be pushing the limits though... I would try setting your i7 to stock and then see what happens.

Ya, I've tried taking it out and putting it back int a few times. I even took out the whole computer to clean the case. Still nothing. I'll have to find a friend that has a bigger power supply and see if that's the issue.

Thanks for all the advice!

Make sure its right in the pcie slot.

Make sure you hear a click when putting in the power cable.

I've done that a few times.

My old 460 watt runs my 5850, but stock. I can't increase the voltage on it or it will crash instantly under load.

Does not do this with my 650.

Not sure if it's the sheer wattage or amps it has. But I'd say a 430 is pushing it depending how many amps it actually can give to the card.

Thanks all for the advice, and I've tried everything that I could. But it's just weird that NOTHING will turn on, not even a post. So I'm still thinking it's my power supply and I was wondering if the description of the system requirements could help...

"450 Watt or greater power supply with two 75W 6-pin PCI Express® power connectors recommended (600 Watt and four 6-pin connectors for ATI CrossFireX™ technology in dual mode)"

I have a 500 watt power supply, but it only has 1, 6-pin connector, but I don't think it's rated for 75W? Anyway of looking it up or testing it?
