Probably not. Your phone might already be amped.

if you are going to get the 555's, you should get a decent card, they are by no means the best headphones, but they are nicer than average for sure. So try not to skimp on the sound card, also, some sound cards (like mine) have an amp built in which is good for driving ultra high end headphones. With the 3 you listed they wont need more than 5 Ohms of impedance so you dont even need an amp at all. Just get a decent card and you wont be disappointed!

EDIT: $100 for a sound card can net you a pretty nice card! so i am sure you will find something nice mine cost me $150 and it is one of the best you can buy without running up into crazy amounts of money

Just a note, but the Sennheiser HD555s are open backed and would leak sound. You said you would prefer if the headphones didn't leak. At the same time I'm not too sure if closed headphones would produce as "good" a soundstage as you would want for gaming.

And I second the statement to buy a better sound card over an amp.

Edit: ^ Poster above me speaks the truth. I have the same sound card and it has a built-in amp.

I do like the folding form factor of the M50s.. They'd easily fit into my laptop bag. Do they fit completely around the ear?

It's still a hard decision I really like the folding headphones and I don't think the 555s fold.. Although I like the looks of the 555s and they look more comfortable...

As of right now having a good soundstage isn't of great importance since I'm not playing any FPS games at the moment. Although I most likely will in the future.

the 555's do not fold up, and they are pretty decent size with an over ear design, so they are VERY comfy, but they are not as portable. Many people think that sennheiser make the most comfortable over ear headphones out there so keep that in mind imo, the padding could be a TINY bit softer, but i have a big head so maybe that is the problem

AD700 are more comfortable than HD555 if that's what you're looking for. They also have better soundstage.

I have a razor headset that I bought from bestbuy for around 50$ a couple years ago... They are really comfortable, but the audio really sucks plus one side doesn't work...
