Power requirments for 6970 Xfire

Thread Starter
I haven't been able to find out the PSU requirments for 6970 crossfire.
Would a 750W antec trupower handle it?
I've currently got 1090t cpu overclocked to 4000mhz and nb 2750, would i have to remove the o/c. Ram is 1666mhz 1.65v.
Vcore is 1.45v and nb is 1.25v
Any info be great smile.gif
What happens if you dont have enough power does the pc just not turn on?

No it will crash or in some cases kill the psu if its reeeally cheap power supply. I think you could do it.....barely. I would wait until they release the 6990 for the 6970 to come down and get a new ps at the same time.

I don't know specifically the quality of the sig PSU, but 750W is enough even for 2 overclocked 6970s.

True. This may just be my power supply paranoia kicking in.

i dont want to overclock gpu its just the cpu i want oc'd.
I did the math with powersupply calcutor it says 730w with oc cpu.(XFIRE 6970)
684w with no cpu oc.(xfire 6970)
I think i would be able to do it with 750W. supposely antec make good PSU.

yeah I'm very liberal with psu's so I might be overestimating the power needed, but still 20 watts is not much headroom......
