Are you slow or something?

edit: Anyway, regardless of whether or not you ride the short bus to school, here is a video of the San Ace starting up at 4V, making your point even less valid than it was before.

Run it at 4V for a couple thousand hours then report back. Thats if the fan would still run at 4 volts after a thousand or so.

You might as well buy a noctua if your going to under volt it all the time.

What your arguing are single digit Db. When it comes to actually cooling (The real purpose of a fan) you could be talking in the teens in terms of the temps.

Who said anything about undervolting it all the time?

Noctuas, aside from being over rated and turd colored, can't ramp up to 2600rpm and don't have the static pressure of the San Ace.

Wrong. Not only is the San Ace quieter in terms of dBa ratings, the noise QUALITY is far superior.

A fan at 2600RPM isn't going to cool much worse than a fan running at 4000RPM, but it will be a hell of a lot quieter while doing so. If you want to run 8000RPM fans then knock yourself out, but if you want to balance noise to performance, nothing beats a San Ace in the high end.

But if you can some how get your San ace to come down to its CFm / Static pressure the noctua will still push the air quieter.

I just mention under volting because that is the ONLY way the 1011 can match up with the Delta. And only just.

Noise quality? How do you measure that in Op's? (Thats your Opinion)

its not only about the CMF's. Its also about Static pressure it helps.
At 2500RPM the delta has more CFm and Static pressure then the San ace at 2600RPM. Its Also quiter. (Since you care so much) (Here)

That means that the AFB1212ME (A VHE with a slower IC)
Will move more air with more pressure with less noise and less RPM. (And less power)

I didn't know this was a "San Ace 1011 or Noctua" poll....anyway....

Noise quality means there are no acoustic oddities such as squealing, ticking, etc. The only thing that is subjective (unless you for some reason enjoy ticking and squeeling) is the tone of the fan motor. Most people find the tone of fans like the San Ace or the GentleTyphoon pleasant.

Static pressure is definitely more important than CFM, which is why the Gentletyphoons are such good fans. However you reach a point at which adding more static pressure (or more CFM) gives you little to nothing in return (aside from more noise). The point of diminishing returns is probably already met before we even get the San Ace up to 12v.

And please, dBa ratings are not to be trusted people. Haven't we learned this by now?

The Delta will definitely move more air with more pressure , but it will not do so while producing less noise (even if at lower RPM) and the noise will also be of a worse quality. I also very seriously doubt it will cool much better even at 4000rpm vs 2600rpm. 2600RPM is overkill already anyway.

i agree with vegetables. buy a 2,600rpm delta and its not going to be as efficient and as pleasant to listen to as the san ace 1011 2,600 rpm.

No but why are you going to buy a truck if your never going to put anything in it. Catch my drift?

Not all deltas sequel and tick. This one doesn't

The law of diminishing returns never reaches a "point". That point is drawn by you. At which point do you believe that you are getting more noise then performance.

And that is determined by your cooler not your fan. Therefore this point is invalid.

Quote:
And please, dBa ratings are not to be trusted people. Haven't we learned this by now?
So if dba cant be trusted whats so special about a fan that uses more energy and cost more and with less performance?

Simple. Do you have a fan controller?

Load your CPU at almost half the RPm of your fan. When you reach your highest temp put the fan to 100%.

Report back.

It makes a difference. Especially at higher temps.

get the delta, because, you have speakers for a reason... so you can hear sound, which is obv gonna block off the fan noise, or wear headphones, and you want your pc to perform best, right? so get the delta.
