50 Runs IBT/LinX Pass, Prime95 fail

Title says it, just got water cooling and got some more temperature head room. Decided to OC past 4ghz. Manage to reach 4.2 with 1.33vcore(cpuz), 1.36(in BIOS). Other volateges are VTT 1.3 and NB 1.3 . With this set up I passed 50 solid runs of LinX (57gflops) and called it a day. Last night I decided to do a prime95 run before bed, woke up and saw that it locked up about 15 minutes in. What gives? I ran LinX again for 20 passes and it made it through. Prime'd it up again and it only lasted 1 hour. Any ideas?

Oh, temps are around 66c load at those settings.

Make sure you have IBT set up properly,but it sounds like you need some more voltage tweakin.

Perhaps, but maybe it's a ram problem?

I reckon you're running around 500MHz FSB on your rig..

I would suggest you to run P95 LARGE FFT at least 6h (if you don't crash)..

Run it with 6x CPU multiplier to avoid being affected by Vcore as P95 LARGE FFT is for testing FSB OC of the system..

Now for P95 LARGE FFT stability you need to tweak VTT(CPU termination voltage), MCH (vNB) and CPU reference voltage (very important for high FSB OCing of Quads)..

Set VTT to 1.36V

MCH= 1.40V

CPU reference voltage = 0.810V

If you have error on some of the cores just upp CPU reference voltage and test again..

If it doesn't stabilise it try upping some more but if that also doesn't help then try to lower it below 0.810V..

Tuning CPU refs is a matter of a trial and error really..

If you lock up or BSOD in P95 LARGE FFT then upp VTT by 0.02V and test again..

Also if upping VTT doesn't help then upp MCH by 0.02V and test again..

Hard locks in P95 LARGE FFT (with 6x multiplier)usually mean insufficient MCH and (or) VTT voltages..

CHEERS..
