H-50 Fan Question

Thread Starter
Hey guys, I finally got my h50 seated nicely and running cool (29c idle @ 3.7ghz), but for some reason when I'm running Prime95 and the max temps are being reached (49c right now) the fan is only running at 1000rpm. It's a 4-pin connected to the 4-pin CPU fan slot. Is there any way I can make this higher? I don't have a fan controller or anything like that but I may be able to pick one up at my local computer store. I would rather not, so if there is a way I can fix this I would appreciate it Thanks for your input!

Ill check the bios out. Never had this problem with this fan before. It's the one that came with the h50, but now that I shut off Prime95, the rpm dropped to 700....

EDIT: C&Q was disabled but I did find another setting called Q-fan, so I disabled that. Fan is up to 1500 rpm now.

Can anyone recommend me a good fan for this? I have the h50 set up as a push-pull intake with my antec fan and the corsair one that came with the h50.

Also does anyone recommend doing exhaust rather than intake? What would the performance difference be like? Thanks!

Try Speedfan. Its a program that recognizes alll the fan headers on your mb. You can control the fan speed with this program. Just google it.

It will do, 4 pin fans are PWM fans where the 4th pin are used for signals. So when the system is idle it will spin slower for more silence. When in need of more heat dissipation, it will spin faster for more perfomance and the 4th pin is used for the signals.

Alright sounds good, even though it wasn't speeding up when it needed that heat dissipation Oh well, it's running fine now. I just bumped up my OC to 3.8 and gonna run some prime95, hopefully with a couple degrees lower temps now. Last time it actually bumped up to 53 which I haven't seen before with this cooler.

hey there, It seems we have a very similar system! What temps are you getting with your setup! I have seen 32C idle at 3.86 so far. And is your setup running stable? what settings if you dont mind?

Hey mate, if you can why don't you run the fan off a molex. That way its 12v. The trade off is noise over coolness.
