2600k, tuniq 120 xtreme cooler.. 30*+ jump @ load.

Thread Starter
New 2600k installed on Asus P8P67 Evo with a Tuniq 120mm xtreme cooler.
AS5 thermal compound applied in a vertical line.

idle temp @ 4400mhz is 34* C
loaded temp @ 4500mhz is 68* + (rises fast as hell in stabilization load with AI suite).

It has cause a BSOD cause the temps continued to rise.
I have reset the heatsink 3 times.

Previously my tuniq cooled my Q6600 @ 3.2ghz with mid 50* load temps...

more info to come.

3500mhz @ 1.192v prime running temps are 58*

the i7 can put out a great deal of heat. the tuniq tower might not be able to handle the 2600k at those speeds. drop your OC or get a better cooler

or

have you done stress tests to confirm your OC is stable? the BSODs could be stability related, not temperature related. try playing with your OC voltages

Hard for me to imagine the cooler cannot handle the i7 2600k...

for clarification...
This is the cooler I have. Tuniq Tower 120 Extreme

Try applying more pressure by tightening the screws. I'd say you have a bad mount.

I have done that each time I reset the HS.

yea, i looked up the cooler you have... it looks like it has enough cooling capacity, but its performance is not reflecting that.

a tight fit is important, but dont tighten it down too much or you can mess up your cooler or mobo or CPU or all of the above.

idk if there is really a defined max yet. most people are keeping to the low 70s. dont push it till we have set limits

many reviews where done with the stock cooler
