Capcom is the king of PC ports in my book.
Their games looks twice as better as the console counter parts, they run twice as better as most other
PC games, and they actually work.
Lost Planet looked fantastic but it had a few problems. This was Capcom's first attempt at a real PC port.
DMC4 is an incredible looking game (on both console and PC mind you), yet I can run it in DX10 mode with a constant 80-100 FPS and above maxed @ 1080p. This is better than really every other PC game out there in terms of performance to graphics ration in my opinion. They outdid themselves with this game. There was two problems though: the buttons were console buttons and people with creative sound cards had alot of problems.
RE5 is an even better
looking game (on both console and PC again) of which I think is one of the most
graphically detailed and cinematic games out there by the way, and it runs pretty damn well on the PC too. It had a plethora of bonus features and stuff too.
Lost Planet 2 looks significantly better than the console version, but I believe there are problems with performance. At least - that was the case when they came out with the benchmarks. If this was fixed or not: I haven't read, most likely though. Game sucked overall regardless.
Capcom and their Framework engine are just incredible. They are one of the few elite in my book when it comes to good graphics, performance, and most importantly if they actually work.
Even with a very linear FPS like Crysis, it loads a lot of map at once...None of those games do, iirc uncharted uses LODs or texture tricks or something, hence, the 256MB RAM limitations really will limit it.
Uncharted does use alot of texture tricks (look like they have depth but most are actually flat), but Naughty Dog is the best in the industry at it. Their art makes it so believable you need to scrutinize the textures closely to notice so it's hard to not applaud them.
I enjoy Uncharted's water infinitely times more than Crysis on a side note. Like, incomparably more. Their snow effects are also pretty tremendous though Crysis had alot of cool ice effects.Edited by OmegaNemesis28 - 1/23/11 at 7:45pm
