4 phyAMD CPU's in one system? - Beating 6core dual Xeon's?

Hello everyone, I'm trying to create the most extreme rendering system possible (for 3dsmax/vray ), and i found this benchmark where AMD takes the lead:
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/multi_cpu.html
it looks like the AMD systems with 4 CPU's are very strong, but I haven't been able to find any detailed info on this. Does anyone here know if they'll really beat the x5680 Xeons?
I'm aiming at a Cinebench score of 25+ so I can start seeing some better rendering results ;-)

OK to help this thread get going, I have found a quad cpu motherboard:
http://www.tyan.com/product_SKU_spec...&SKU=600000180
it looks interesting, but is there a way to figure out how this will compare to the dual intel 6core Xeon setup?

Exactly what I was wondering.

btw, your new egg link in your second post doesn't work.

Well lets see 2 Xeon 5680's = 12 cores total vs 4 AMD Opteron 6174 = 48 cores total. Hmm who wins?

If your putting this much into a build you have to much money, gimme some!

I'll assume this is the board he was meaning to link. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813151219

and I assume a quad opteron will have no trouble beating a dual xeon

This is a serious board lol, The CPU's themselves are kick as* expensive!

*Wonder's how good the rendering speed will be*

It sounds like a fun idea, but your doing to pay more for this then u need. You don't need 48 cores to run 3dmax lol. A server yes, thats why they make theres CPUs for servers, so you can run multiple dedicated servers off each core.

4 AMD Opteron 6174 = $5,196 + All that ram + Workstation Video Cards + The Mobo = Above $10,000 Easy. If your that rich then this is NP.
