Digital Pens

Thread Starter
Anyone have any experience with these? I don't think I could bare to use the ones that require special paper. The other ones seem to have some device you need to leave at the top of the paper. Anyone know of any other types? I want to have a physical and a digital copy of handwritten notes and I don't want to be tethered to a computer. Thanks.

Are you talking about something like this? http://www.livescribe.com/en-us/
I have their older series but unfortunately I have no opportunity to use it. The recording works good in smaller or quiet rooms like a school class, you can hear the pen scratching over the paper, but that is no problem unless you want to release the recording to the public. The pen feels nice if you like bigger pens. I have big hands and welcome the change of form. Writing feels a little scratchy, the line is very thin and maybe could've used an ink that is more fluid, but as far as I remember, there are different cartridges to choose from. The tracking of the writing forks flawlessly, it doesn't miss anything, not much to say there.

I could write about the paper, the software, the option to print your own dotted paper, but do you have any specific questions?

For the hassle and cost you could pickup a Thinkpad X61t tablet off ebay for around $300 and use OneNote. It'd be fast enough for notetaking and PDF markup (Bluebeam PDF Revu) and I feel would be a superior option.

Of course they are a little hard to come by but setting up a RSS feed could help.
