. the 555BE OC's well - mine hits 4 core 4 ghz (stable) but i tend to run at 3.5 ghz as the fan is quieter. Even at 3.2 dual core the 555BE runs anything on max cod, fc2, re5, fallout, stalker(the best game ever - even if the graphics are dodgy) you can run half life on max settings on a Pentium 4 LOL. The graphics card is what gives you the gaming ooomph and any of those will be fine. The Antec is a cool case for the money.
lol dude u dont know what u talking about , 1st of all the board that will support dual x16 will cost half his budget , 2nd the perfomance difference between dual x16 and dual x8 is rougly 2-3%

Antec Earthwatts 500D Green would be too small especially if down the road I add another video card (Cross Fire). Don't you think?

Athlon II X4 hmmmmm why why? Slower clock, most games today will not use more than 2 cores and it is not black edition.

My favorite case right now: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811112239 I regret getting a cheaper case as it is the first thing you see. I like my CM310, but wish I would have gotten this instead. Oh well, next upgrade.
But... the Diablotek Evo that tator tot suggested looks good too. Personal preference, but I like a clean look more than plastic and flash. Also, opening front panels feel cheap to me.

Other than that, just get better ram - 1600 : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820104203 $40 after $10 mir.

ASrock looks good, go for it.

Good luck

I just built that same set up for a buddy, runs like a champ

We used the AMD 955 CPU
Samsung 500GB
Gskill 4GB RipjawsX
Asrock 870 E
I liked the Antec 300 over what my buddy wanted which was a coolermaster 912HAF,the 300 has more fans
Corsair 550W PSU,but your 650 is plenty
and a 460GTX is great,we used the 450

Why do people post up rigs for $200 more than budget? If myEZweb had $700 to spend he would have said - just like being back at work lol
Anyway, the 5770 is a good card for those games, as just stated, and a pile of cash cheaper. But check your monitor resolution as the 5770 is not great a max high res. settings. I think AMD are about to revamp it's 6 series line-up so it may be worth a wait.

This is absolute crap. x8/x8 crossfire will barely bottleneck GTX480's. Performance has been shown to drop up to 5% MAXIMUM between x16 and x8 crossfire on the highest level GPU's of today. For anything up to premium price range x8/x8 crossfire is PERFECTLY acceptable.

GPU bang for the buck. Get this card:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814125348
The review speaks for itself:
http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/364...ked/index.html
My experience has been almost exactly the same, except I updated the bios and got the fan-profiles worked out so that the card runs cool and almost silent.

Highly recommended.

Also recommended you go with the PhenomII 555 BE - overclocking will be a breeze, unlocking cores is very likely and the L3 cache makes more of a difference the higher you OC your NB. That said you mentioned Civ as a game u like - Civ 5 CHEWS up cores, and will see performance benefits going to hex cores for quad core. The 555BE will likely unlock, and is easy to replace anyways, so I recommend getting that and changing later if you want to.

The Antec 300 Illusion is good value in a combo when the price is low, but the lack of cable management and slightly small size means that multiple HDD's will interfere with crossfire setups eventually. Cooling is great, the fans are fairly quiet, and the quality is great - but there are draw backs. I wish I'd bought the NZXT Tempest Evo to start with, and wish I'd stretched my budget for something better still now. But sacrifices must be made ...

You could also get that same ram in 1600 form for like a $5 bill more(just to help with your oc if anything at all). As far as the case, I refuse to add anything, too personal for me =) Overall, some very good picks!

*edit* Forgot to mention Mushkin just got some decent budget 1600 silverlines up on the egg for 45 bucks.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820226176
That Mushkin is a deal but my RAM is 8-8-8-21 for $46!!!!!

I am not sure if higher frequency RAM really helps with todays apps/games????

And please say something about the cases - I DARE YOU!!

The Earthwatts 650 isn't really a 650w, I wouldn't suggest Crossfiring anything above a HD68500 on it for that reason.
It's a good PSU but it's realistically only a 600w PSU.

The Athlon II x4 will be taken advantage of in Valve's Source games, Star Craft II, and many other titles. It's not harder to overclock a non-black edition CPU.

All I was aying is that just because there are two pci-16 slots doesn't mean dropping two cards into any old mobo will give great performance. In many cases a single decent card will out perform a SLI or Crossfire set-up because of the speed differenece.
