H50 horizontal mounting

Thread Starter
I had bought a corsair H50 few months ago and will be buying a new build in the next few months and wanted to make the purchase worth while, a possible case i was considering buying is the Silverstone Raven RV02, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...ven%202%20case because of the 90 degree rotation im curious how this will effect the H50 if its mounted horizontally on the top, as opposed to vertically like on the back wall of a normal case. simple hydraulics tells me the coolant in the radiator itself will be evenly spread across the fins, possibly making it cool better. complete liquid cooling is also an alternative

it shouldn't effect it's performance at all. I had mine mounted both ways before and saw no difference in performance or temps.

one more question, odds are im going to want to replace the stock fan on the H50, im sure there's a difference between fans working in open air as opposed to being dedicated radiator fans, such as larger cfm for open exhaust fans for the back for instance, but does this hold true for radiators as well due to the increased resistance? another is the number of blades the fan has, more or less would benefit cooling, i would guess more blades = steadier flow

Orientation doesn't matter that much.

Raven 2 is utterly a fail for WCing unmodded. I slung my rad on the back and cut a hole in the back for hoses.

For radiator fans you don't care about CFM as much as static pressure.
