Pay It Forward!

Pay It Forward

North America

Hi Guys! I've had an idea as of late, that began on a different type of forum, and I felt it could be used here as well. I'm sure you've all heard of pay it forward, where person one offers item(s) x, person two says," I'll take the item, and offer up item(s) y." well I'd like to get that started here. These days in our times of recession, not many people can afford to buy all new parts and some of us have some old stuff laying around that we don't or aren't going to use, so why not?

Rules
There will be some stipulations to this thread though:

1.) minimum rep count of 20. If you do not have a rep count of 20, a trader rating of 5+ can be substituted

2.) Giver and receiver of items can work shipping details out in PM's but please let me know what the deal is

3.) Items given must be of adequate value to items taken, I.E: I'll offer ~20$ worth of items(pre shipping) Taker must now offer up item with value around 20$ unless they feel like offering up higher valued item for giggles and grins.

4.) Any items shipped MUST have a tracking and/or signature verification. its only a couple more dollars and will help keep everyone in check

Keep in mind, this is a good will gesture thread, and users of this can and will be held to the same standards as the rest of the site. Don't threadcrap. If you know for sure you aren't going to use the item, then don't accept the offer! Also, if you know for sure you don't have the ability to ship the item you want to offer, don't offer the item!

Item History
Item History will be on a google spreadsheet to be posted here in the OP. If you receive a PM from a user who meets rule requirements about shipping info, please PM me with your username, the item to be shipped, and the shipping receiver's name so it can be kept on record
Google Spreadsheet

FAQs

Q Does your system work like this - If a person wants to take something, they have to have a post in this thread offering up something of equal value? Or, does it work like this - If a person wants to take something, they have to give the giver something of equal value?

A as its pay it forward they'll have to post in the thread saying they are taking the previous item(x), and offering up (y) in place of (x) say you wanted my shrouds, you'd say,"I'll take the shrouds and offer up an old phenom x3 processor." someone would come after you, and say," Alright, I'll take the phenom and offer up a 120mm Delta fan." you get the picture?

Q Let's say I have an item with a value of $30 I wanted to offer up and someone takes it. However, at that time there is nothing being offered that I could put to good use. Am I able to later, say in a couple weeks, take something worth $30ish bucks with out giving again?

A Thats going to be a negative. Too much to keep track of, and thats part of the fun! If you want to offer something, you have to take whats on the table at the time of offerment (not a word...lulz)

As I said earlier, I'll start off the thread with offering up:
(2) 120mm Clear Fan Shrouds, made by TheFeserCompany with 31mm thickness. Included are the shroud, a rubber grommet, and screws. Please PM me if interested. First to PM with shipping info will receive the shrouds.

Interesting idea!

Going to go look through my collection of unused computer parts to see if I have anything worth giving.

Just a bit of clarification. Does your system work like this - If a person wants to take something, they have to have a post in this thread offering up something of equal value? Or, does it work like this - If a person wants to take something, they have to give the giver something of equal value?

You should request that all shipments are done via tracked/recorded mail so that nothing is lost/stolen. OCN is a nice community, but there are still scammers and conmen amongst us. All it takes is a signature upon delivery to show who has the item!

Should there be two of these schemes? One for north America and one for Europe, (or USA and UK) will save on shipping for larger/heavier items.

taking this into consideration, This thread will be purely US48 based. If you feel you want to, you could start up a UK/Europe based PIF

Last question, and I almost hate asking it because it makes me sound almost greedy, but the more clarification the better. Let's say I have an item with a value of $30 I wanted to offer up and someone takes it. However, at that time there is nothing being offered that I could put to good use. Am I able to later, say in a couple weeks, take something worth $30ish bucks with out giving again?
