Need Info on best way to OC M4A87TD/USB3

Thread Starter
I have a ASUS M4A87TD/USB3, Phenom II X6 1055T 125W, 8gig of Corsair Dominator GT (2 sticks total) DDR3 2000 . Right now im just collecting Information on how to OC it without corruptions (burn up). The meantime i just shipped out the 3 items for warranty replacement due to fact the Motherboard which i think was defective from start. It was a bit "glitchy" but there might be a better word for that. Anyway, I have been reading up on other posts about having the right timings and right FSB settings with the juice, what is the equall equations to this? I'm sure you guys are more pro with AMD than i am, in fact im still at the noob stage and slowly gettin the info thru my head. What I am not understanding is the whole timing part and the juice. This Motherboard is designed with 1600 and can OC to 2000. What is your guys recommendations on this? Also to drop info about cooling, it has Copper Heatsink (has couple tubes running from bottom wrapping around to top and across thru the cooling fins) with 40mm fan, Memory came with cooling fans to mount over. On the memory itself, its original settings to set on is 9-10-9-27 @1.65. Also understanding what each meant in Bios setting? As said im noob and i want to learn, fill me in . Thank you!

Forget it.
4+1 power phase unheatsinked+ 125W x6 processor + overclocking = death sentence. By death sentence, I meant a huge fire risk on most boards.
Could've gotten an M4A87TD EVO for the same price, and it would've had (more) capable mosfets.

Even with mosfet cooling I would recommend only moderate overclocking.

Even with the ability of Core unlocker? So this has no chances to run 2ghz memory? or not even 1600?

I am not trying to max it out.. I was aiming for like 3.5ghz at most or to run at least 1600mhz Memory

Uh, 2Ghz memory is possible on most x6s, but is not worth it unless below CAS9 timings. You'd be better off with 1600 CAS6-7 over 2000 CAS9-10. Core unlocker hasn't anything to do with the CPU. The one thing I am worried about is overclocking your CPU and/or using a tower cooler.

well I am using a multi fan tower, but does not mean anything at same time, your saying is best to go liquid cool to keep the temp of cpu down beyond certain fsb/volt settings?

liquid cooling the CPU won't matter, you won't be able to overclock that far due to the mosfets/power phase on that motherboard.

So, what motherboard do you recommend? (I am more of ASUS Fan but can work with other brands) Can be higher than 870 chipset as well. Prefer not have GPU onboard, and could use 2x PCI Express slot for SLI but can stick with single. long as there is at least 1 pci slot for Wifi card or pci ex x1.. to fit in this tower Rosewill Cruiser and I have been running this PSU for quite some time.. has no issue nor down time as well as any reactions.. I have always kept everything cleaned and checked the fan on it to keep eye out for any dryness in case of rebuilding fan to keep the PSU from overheating. If you think that is not good enough please say so

The M4A87TD EVO for a similar price provides that power phase you want.
But you may also be interested in the cheaper ASUS M4A79XTD EVO, or the ridiculously cheap but open boxASUS M4A785TD-V EVO. And if the Gigabyte GA-890XA-UD3 ever goes back in stock at ZipZoomFly, go for it over everything else as $90 for it is a great, great value.

dude, im not to worried about the price, its just as long as its not over 150 bucks lol

Edited:
On other hand, since i shipped that motherboard to ASUS, i may be able to ask them if i could get a swap for evo sometimes they can do that for a fee, who knows. ill check into that first thing monday but meanwhile, if i did get the evo, what are the options to do the tweak? any recommendations on what cooler i should use to keep this thing going smooth?
