Should i upgrade to next gen?

I'm stuck between 2 choices right now..Either spend around $100 and buy a 4870 to run with my 4870x2 in trifire or save every last penny (which will take forever) and buy a next gen card? Is dx11 really worth it? Is there really a noticeable difference that should get me to spend at least $500 on a new card(s)?

Depends on the games you run. But I'm not sure if triple xfire is that much of an improvement over 2x xfire.

Well I'm actually waiting for future games to come out, cause i can max all my games out now. Games like Elder Scrolls 5, Deus Ex 3, Brink, Rage, etc...

I would say wait. xfire X 3 is not the best scaling get a 250 or 9800+ for physics . dx 11 is like the jump from dx9 to dx 10. alot of little things. I like dx 11 more rounder/more rendering tiles As in bc2 the hand that holds the gun is better, metro 2033 was cool. mafia 2 was great too. all depends, i think your setup is good as is. mite want to wait till dx 11 cards get cheaper.

Sell the 4870X2 for a 470 or 465 or 5850 .

Well, I was thinking wait for a while and get the 6950 in crossfire, the benchmarks totally destroyed the 5970 2 gig....

I think you should get another card. Get the "Next Gen". On the waiting part - I think it is never worth it. Why? Cause that "Game" never ends. As soon as you wait for the new card, there will be another one.
IMO, if you want another card, and have the money, then go with it.

There is no such thing as "Future Proof" in the computer world.

HAH!! I'll buy you a 6950 if you give me your 5970.

To OP: I'd say you're good for now. Since you have to save up do that and wait for the next cards later this year.

This. A 5870 would be a decent upgrade though OP, and you can find them on the marketplace here for ~$200 lately
