i7 950 Overheating

Thread Starter
SO, took my computer to a LAN last night and im pretty sure that the transportation moved my heatsink cause im getting weird temperatures. Right now im at 3.33Ghz w/o HT and my temps are ~50C idle. Which seems odd cause usually it it runs alot cooler than that. I was thinking that I should just reseat my heatsink, am I wrong? Thanks.

Assuming no changes have been made in BIOS and all your fans are still working correctly then yes, try reseating the HS.

When you remove the heatsink check to make sure that you didn't crack the motherboard when moving that thing around with the heatsink on.

It could be a longshot but that type of mounting system doesn't normally just get loose.

I would give it a shot but check for anything out of the ordinary.

Yeah, go for it. Also, check your BIOS to make sure none of your voltages have changed. No harm in doing either of those.
