Help with OC i7 980x & GTX580HC2

Thread Starter
Hello guys i am new to this.
I couldnt get much help from other forums so i decided to pretty much show what i did.
It might be helpful for people who are new to OC as well.

Increased multiplier to 30X to get 4000MHz
Increased Vcore under voltage to 1.3V
Increased PCI from 100 to 110
Under CPU feature disabled Intel Speedstep
Left everything at default
Memory timings are adjusted to factory settings and Dimm is at 1.65V
Boots and runs into Windows 7 64bit perfect.

Then used Evga Precision tool to OC the gtx 580 HC2
to 1836/2115
Evga OC Scanner tests perfect without artifacts
3Dmark 11 runs fine.
but if i increase it to 1950/2250
Nvidia display driver stopped and recovered during 3Dmark 11.

Any suggestions?

i thought it had something to do with the GPU
It was at 100 then i raised it to 110 after the fact the drivers kep failing at 1950/2250

Put PCIE at 105.
Increase ICH a bit to 1.2v.

This will help you to overlclock the GPU a bit.

If you increase the PCIE too much, it will give you issues with OCing the card's memory.
I made a similar mistake like you at first.
Was able to push my cards from from 940 core and 2150 memory to 968 core and 2300 memory by lowering the PCIE and increasing ICH volts.
