Even with the set up you currently have you could probably get away with 850 watts. I'd check it and make sure, but 1000 watts seems overkill in my opinion.

let me spec something up. i'm sure i can top that

i'm not good with sandy bridge or Intel. but this rig will be faster and more cost effective. got your SSD, a 1TB drive for games, and a 2TB drive for storage. you can definitely do better with the money than what you put down

You have a choice. Go with something better, at least a 1600 CL9 kit; most 1600 CL9 kits (at least 2x2GB ones) will reach the same or lower price as the equivalent generic 1333 CL9 kit. The other reason I don't recommend 1333 CL9 is because it can hold back what would've been a perfectly good overclock...

I like your memory advice. Still looking for 2 4Gb sticks. Will go for a 1600 CL9 kit. Any specific suggestions from Newegg that would be compatible with the motherboard specs?

I don't think 1600 ram will run at that speed unless you overclock it yourself.

I would say get the 955 like somebody else said, you could totally get away with 750watt PSU.

I would say don't get that CPU cooler. there are much better options for that price range.

get something like a megahelems or something like it. venomous X possibly.

Umm. don't buy powercolor. Never had good things with them. So you could go with a more known brand.

are you set on the HAF case? there are better options for cheaper.
such as the NZXT phantom.

I would recommend getting an asus board too.

Would going to one of the 6 core processors be better? Such as the 1055T or 1075T and OCing it to the 3.4GHz? If he does go with one of the X6 would it a good idea to get a MOBO with the AMD 890GX or is the FX just fine.

Any other suggestions are welcomed!

Imo -iceblade^'s list was the best mentioned on this thread.

For that cash you can't get anything better, and definitely that build is a lot better than any AMD build you can do for that price.

Imo, go for -iceblade^'s list, you won't regret it.

1)The difference between AMD 890FX and 890GX chipset that FX support multi graphic solution and GX is limited to dual x8 graphic slot and an integrated gpu. GX is less expensive than FX. For overclocking purpose, FX is a better solution because it overclock more potential than GX.

2)What are you doing with the setup, are you a gamer or rendering purposes? Hexa core is way too much if you are using it to play games because games utilize mostly dual core to triple core.

3)For hard drive why not get the newer 64mb cache Western Digital Caviar black?

4)For graphic card, since you are spending quite a lot for this setup, invest on high end gpu like the 6970 or gtx580. Get 1 gpu that will have lower power consumption and heat unlike two 6850.

5)If you are overclocking, I suggest you get 1600mhz so that you have further headroom to overclock way better than 1333mhz.

Iceblade neglected to list an OS.
While on this topic, OP, why exactly do you need the Ultimate edition ?
It's not like you really have anything to gain with general use over HP/Pro..
