Hm. Maybe that's why they don't make em any more. Admittedly I didn't buy the game until 3 years later out of a budget bin.

Did you buy AoE2 and its expansions when it came out then? If not , ILL PERSONALLY COME TO YOUR COUNTRY , FIND YOU AND RAPE YOUR FACEyou should try it.

I remember people HANDING OUT AoE2 demo disks to people in a game convention which provided the beginning campaign , MP , custom map and tech up to castle age and 1 civ , i think that's a pretty complete experience for a demo to have before the game came out.

I guess today the industry has slacked , more dependent on impulse buys and one-time buyers and not long term fans , now companies just go to where the money is hot.For about 4 years the consoles is where its at , now its shifting back to PC gaming...CASUAL PC gaming cryingsmiley.gif

Was consoles to blame for not having demos ? The impartial response would be only partially(hurr). If you look at the buzzwords set on the proposal tables now , those would be free , social , micro transactions , owlsdownload and play , low specs and so on and so fourth. This essentially means that most of them are already a complete demo already. Anyway ,but to my point , its easier for the marketing department to bait people in to a game whereas in a demo your opinions of said game may be opinionated towards the price tag , non refundable price tag.

The fact is now that the tide to get to work on tomorrow's project is today's sales , fact is that even you make more on average netting an average sale , today's spreadsheet will tell you otherwise.I guess at the end of the day , people make more money off gullible people in the world....and there are many gullible people in the world.

Probably because they are thinking "Why bother making a demo when everyone will just pirate the full version."

Then they're dumbasses.

Release a demo ergo less piracy.
