2500K overclocking help (new to intel)

Thread Starter
Hey guys, the 2500K is my first intel chip (VERYYYYY impressed...) and had some questions about what I should be changing to overclock.

Have heard that you shouldn't touch the bclk anymore, just leave it at 100mhz, is this correct? If so, the all I'm doing is changing the multi right?

Voltages are more what has me worried. What is the stock voltage for these chips? My bios is sometimes 1.220V or 1.350V... its weird.

Questions pertain mostly to what I should set these to (roughly) for 4.5, and when to change what voltages.

Load-line calibration - Auto <---- what is this?
cpu vcore - 1.220V
Dynamic vcore (i cant touch it but it says 0.0V)
QPI/VTT - 1.05V
System Agent Voltage - .920V
PEH Core - 1.050V
CPU PLL - 1.800V

Also, on the voltage table where those are taken from says my ram voltage is 1.5V, but on the memory tab it shows the correct XMS profile, which is at 1.6V.

Thanks guys, lovin this chip so far. 4.2Ghz with no voltage bump

Bump, I know there are people who know how to do this out there

Check out this thread, it will explain everything you need to know.

And overclocking is such a dream on sb, I first started manually controlling the voltage, but this board is so smart, it dynamically controlls the voltage based on what your cpu needs. I literally leave everything on auto except for the cpu multiplier, and change the memory settings. Easy as pie.

you sir are amazing. You think its ok to change the bclk a little? I know it's OCD, but when set at 1000 (Bclk x .1Mhz) it sits below 100mhz so I dont get the actual 4.5ghz when set at 45X, 1003 should be fine right?

EDIT: Can boot into bios at 4.5, prime and IBT crash as soon as I start it though, suggestion?
