Problems with 1055t and Asus M4N75TD

Thread Starter
I cant seem to get anything to work on this dam setup.

Specs:
AMD 1055T @2.8GHZ
ASUS M4N75TD w/ latest bios
8GB (4x2GB) Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1333
GTX 460
Intel 80gb SSD + 640GB caviar black +3x 1.5TB Caviar Greens

CPU is cooled with H50, sticking out the window with ambient temp of ~22F.

Every time I launch prime 95, all 6 cores FAIL within ~1minute (see screen shot)

Any ideas???

you sure you have your memory set right? Cores will fail if memory isnt set

also to mention, i remember doin this on my Phenom 9650, running 4 sticks of memory at 1066 that the board isnt do-able for 4 sticks on 1066, only works with 2 sticks, having same errors on the 4 sticks - all 4 cores fails

I know exactly what's happening.

Running 4 DIMMs stresses the memory controller on the CPU greatly. Blend test heavily stresses the memory controller, that's why you see it failing so quickly. Small FFT may pass a bit longer. Anyway, you have two options. 1) Increase your CPU-NB voltage until it's stable. This is essentially the memory controller voltage on the CPU. Or 2) Downclock your memory / NB frequency until it's stable.

Not meaning to double post but as far as i overlooked, you said 4 sticks instead of 2 sticks on that board, You probly can only run 1066 but my info can be wrong, I have a M4A78-E with Phenom X4 9650 with 4x 2gb OCZ 1066, I have fought every which way on timing to get it right but it always fails on 1066, There could be other timings i have not tried but i never went further, i just pulled the 2 sticks out and ran fine on 1066, with the 4 it always works on 800 (this is DDR2 btw), for which this could be same concept your facing.

Yes it's the same concept in this scenario. Officially, AMD processors only support DDR2 1066mhz or DDR3 1333mhz when using two sticks. If populating 4 slots, DDR2 800mhz or DDR3 1066mhz is officially supported. Usually on AM3 the CPU-NB voltage can be increased and it may be possible to run 1333mhz, especially if it is the C3 stepping CPU with the improved memory controller. However, personally I had an x2 7750 (based on Phenom I architecture with 2 cores locked) and I couldn't get 4 sticks of 1066mhz stable no matter what I did. I had to back down to 800mhz.

OK im back.

I tried upping the voltages- to no avail.
However it seems that putting the mem to 1066 seems to solved the problem.

Now that I have that problem solved, wheres a good place to start overclocking?

thing of it is man, it be different if you were running 2 sticks on OC than 4 sticks.. your facing alot of issues with 4 than 2 when it comes to stability

I would really push for 1333mhz. DDR3 1066mhz is just so slowwwwwwwww. The "safe" CPU-NB voltage is considered the same as the "safe" CPU voltage. Most people will tell you around 1.55v or even higher. Phenom II can really take the voltage and I don't think you will need close to 1.55v for getting 1333mhz in all four banks. Why don't you start out around 1.35v and work your way up. It's really not going to degrade the chip or anything.

Instead of running p95 blend, you can just run LinX set to max memory and it should find instability even faster if it exists.
