GTS 450 or find a used 9800GT/GTS 250 - those are the option imo, for sure you will find a benefit from the CUDA in the Adobe.

Is the editing program GPU accelerated? If so, it might be worth investing in something that will do CUDA well.

If not, really any GPU from the last 2 years will do fine.

Mind explaining how it would be faster than the GTS 250? Is it because of the GDDR5?

Yes, it will be GPU accelerated (Premiere Pro CS5 and Avid Media Composer).
The think is, I'm really lost on this CUDA stuff. How much CUDA cores is enough? 96? 128? 196?

I was thinking of getting the 5670, but then realized that CS5 and Avid could really benefit from CUDA... Now, I'm confused between the variety of NVIDIA cards (I've been an ATI guy all my life).

To be useful, i would shoot for 48 or more.

If you really want it to have some kick, look for 100+

CUDA only works on nVidia cards, so don't try to apply this same thinking to ATi cards.

Thank you for the reply. Yes I know CUDA is NVIDIA only, that's why I switched from considering Radeon to NVIDIA recently.

100+ CUDA cores, that would be the:
GTS 250 DDR3 (128), 9800 GT DDR3 (112), GTS 450 DDR5 (192).

for the *almost* 100 CUDA: GT 240 DDR5 (96) and GT 430 DDR3 (96). But I've been reading and it is said that GT 240 with GDDR5 is a lot better than GT 430, since it is only available with DDR3.

So, now I don't know which to buy. I'm confused about which will be better: more CUDA or better memory type (DDR5)?

GTS 450 goes for around $130 in my country. My budget is already stretching from the original $50 (HD 4650) to $110 (GTS 250, 9800 GT), so GTS 450 is no-no for me.

Yes, GT 240 is better than the GT 430, If I were you Id just get the GT 240 for low power consumption, then get a better processor.

Okay guys, based on your recommendation, I've narrowed the options to these three cards:

GT 240
-96 CUDA cores
-Graphic clock: 550 Mhz
-Processor clock: 1340 Mhz
-G3D Rating (Passmark): 779
-128bit
-GDDR5
-$97 (new); $66 (used)

9800 GT
-112 CUDA cores
-Graphic clock: 675 Mhz
-Processor clock: 1688 Mhz
-G3D Rating (Passmark): 914
-256bit
-GDDR3
-$103 (new); $77 (used)

GTS 250
-128 CUDA cores
-Graphic clock: 738 Mhz
-Processor clock: 1836 Mhz
-G3D Rating (Passmark): 1069
-256bit
-GDDR3
-$114 (new); $93 (used)

The only reason I'm still considering GT 240 is because of the GDDR5.
So the question remains: does a 112 and 128 CUDA cores differs that much on real life use of Premiere CS5 in comparison to 96 CUDA cores?

If your narrowing it down to memory speed, shouldn't you be asking us which one is better instead of CUDA cores? Anything over 48 will make a noticeable difference in rendering times, and having a faster memory interface won't change it that much. The GT 240 will sip power, speed up rendering a fair amount, and if you can get your hands on a passive model, you won't hear it either. And it's the cheapest But if you could find a used 9800 or GTS 250 you'd be better off.

Well, I know that DDR5 is better than DDR3.

Just wanna know, which one should I get hehe.

Then it's settled (unless you guys have another suggestions):

I'll just try to find a cheap, used GTS 250/9800GT until a certain point of time. And if I don't find it, I'll just go with GT 240.... right?
