Folding on my GTX 470's

Thread Starter
My top card is loading at 89c

And my bottom card is loading at 75c

This is while folding.

Gaming my temps are fine.

I'm getting about 15K PPD on Both cards.

I'm also SMP folding as well, had to up my vcore and lower my GTX 470 OC to 800MHz stable.

What is the max safe temps for GTX 470?

Max safe is anything under 100 (give or take a few degrees). Max safe that I would do for folding 24/7 would be below 90 so you should be fine.

Depending on your fans RPM its normal...

Are you running the fans on auto?

When I fold I run them at 100%, yes its loud but you do get use to it. On my Sig rig (Obsessed) I run the fans at 75-80% depending on ambiant temps.

Generally speaking my temps hardly ever go over 80c

Thank you. That's what I was worried about.

I will be putting both cards under water very soon. So temps won't be an issue.

EDIT: this is with both fans at 100%

Atleast my GTX 470 overheats around 85c and shuts itself down.

hehe when I ran furmark it would load at like 90+ and shut itself down.

That's why I use folding for stability and IBT for checking vcore. Turns out I needed 1.47v vcore for 3.6 instead of 1.45v
