i think the ear surrounds look really cheap, but sennheiser is know for their quality, just don't know about those.

If you're buying that ipod touch, then get the 280's. They're an awesome set, and for $30 more - it's a no brainer.

what type of music do you listen to?
I find little point of lossless on portables tbh.

This, and the fact that using full-sized headphones with an iPod is really cumbersome. iPods go fine with in-ears, but I'm not sure if that's what you want. Some more specifics would be nice.

RX900/700 are great headphones (although you can do a lot better for $200), but after a 15 hour plane ride wearing the RX700 from Newark to Hong Kong, I don't find them to be a good idea since isolation isn't great.
