Suggest Android phone $150-$250 - Page 2

Hmmm, the HD2s in my area are much cheaper.

But whatever you do, don't go get an Xperia. The X10 still runs 1.6; I believe you can't play Angry Birds on 1.6.

The HTC Desire is also a good choice, but playing Angry Birds on a 4.3" screen is so much fun!

And for craigslist, just make sure you meet the person halfway and bring a friend for safety. Best of luck!

I can recommend purchasing the Telus LG Optimus One P900 and unlocking it with a paid unlock service. It's $200 for the phone, and ~$30 for unlocking. All you need is a friend from Canada to help you acquire it, or take a trip up north to a Canadian Best Buy and get it unlocked at a local shop.

I can vouch on this phone, I purchased it for my family. It shares a 550 mhz processor that can be easily overclocked to 721 mhz, and has the GPU of the Nexus One with a lower resolution screen, giving you a silky smooth experience and the advantage of Android 2.2 Froyo built in. =)

Definitely snappy and runs Angry Birds with no problems.

Well, I'm considering a used HD2 at craigslist. They seem to be unbeleivably cheap there. If I get the HD2, I'll put android on it as posted by
lob3s, that'll be okay? Sadly, there are no motorola milestones at craigslist..?
Any other phones you might suggest?

I found this HTC Desire at craigslist for 240 : http://miami.craigslist.org/brw/fud/2150188145.html
However it looks shady..

The X10 will be getting or has received 2.1 or 2.2 update.

I've never really used big phones before, is the HD2 a bit too big for comfort? I'll be using it at college mostly.
Tell me, is the Desire better or HD2?
I'm new to these phones.

HD2 is nice, actually. It can run multiple operating systems including Android, Windows Phone 7, Meego and Linux/Windows builds. Have fun installing ROMs on that monster.

And the Desire is nice too. Lots of support from XDA and of course CyanogenMod.

HTC desire, HTC wildfire, HTC hd2 or the Motorola Droid. Those should be what you are looking at

Guys, which one is better, the Motorola Milestone(Droid?) or the HTC HD2.
The Milestone has a physical qwerty keyboard, is it worth it?
Another thing is that the motorola is a native Android phone..

On the other hand HD2 got big screen and better processor.

If I get a HD2, I'll have to get it used from craigslist(no prior experience).
No Milestones on craigslist, only ebay. I beleive the milestone is the gsm version of droid.

Yep, Milestone is the GSM version of the Verizon Droid. It uses stock 2.1 Eclair, and it should have capability for rooting and installing custom ROMs. If you can get one, then great. It's still a pretty nice device for its time.

It's going to be pretty difficult to find something under $250. You'd have to look at older phones.

Unlike the Droid, Milestones have a locked bootloader and depending on what OP wants to do with the phone, the Milestone can be VERY frustrating. Rooting is easy but loading custom roms seems like its too much effort.

If this is all you're after

Then I can vouch for all working perfectly on a Milestone. But besides that, I'd avoid Milestone/Motorola like the plague. Motorola doesn't care too much for its users outside of the US (see the comments). No Froyo love for the Milestone even though the Droid got it months ago. But like I said, if you don't care too much for an "up-to-date" device or you're not interested in playing around with roms, etc... then the Milestone will fit the bill.

Edit: Just saw on xda-developers that the 2.2 update is going to be rolled out in the next few weeks . But I think my original point still stands

I do wish to install updated version of android and poke around with things.
If can get both the HD2 and Milestone used for around $250, so which one is it gonna be?

Does the HD2 have a better processor? I'd like the ability of installing Windows Phone 7 and Android both on a single device..

Initially I was aiming for mid-range phones, that is why I stated those requirements. But I guess all the highier-end phoens will have those features.
