Performance RAM or Value RAM

Thread Starter
Need to choose. I'll convert price into $ to give a better idea. I can get another 2GB Kingston Value RAM I have for like 20$ and have a 2x2GB configuration. Or I can sell my value RAM and spend nearly 3 times as much for a gaming 2x2GB RAM like a Dominator or G.Skill Pi series @ 1600Mhz. Is that really worth it? Another option I have is the XMS3 series @1600Mhz Cl9. They are almost half the price of dominator or g.skill.
I dont massively OC my CPU.

Only you can answer that question.

Your rig confuses me.
Expensive motherboard but only 2 GB of RAM?

You should be able to pick up a few FPS with higher memory settings, however it's not going to be enormously substantial. Generally, if you have to ask, then you should be satisfied by simply getting another 2 GB stick for cheap (and not having the hassle of selling your current RAM).

In all honesty, RAM speed has the least impact on your gaming performance.

You can eek out a little extra performance by paying a premium, but if you have to sacrifice anywhere to stay within budget, RAM is probably a good place to save some money.

In your case the value ram probly will work fine i will say tho the pi series ram is nice mine is running almost 1700mhz on 6-8-6-21 1T.

Prioritize quantity over speed, especially if you don't overclock much.

yeah since higher speed ram just helps you get more out of your cpu, since that can limit you sometimes it self. Like my current rig I could go above 475mhz if my 2nd kit wasnt 800mhz Gskill PIs, as they clock no higher then 980mhz at best no matter what the timing is at, and my current board i cant even set them gotta let them auto. But slapping another dual channel set of 2gb or even 4gb would not hurt if your system is doing alot of pagefile swapping while gaming.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820134788 Im assuming these would be best bang for yeah only $26 free S&H and doubles your ram win win there.
