The pain in the ass will be taking the entire motherboard out to re-do it, but unless I do that I will always be doubting it is done right. So, there's my plan for the evening.
If you're using a typical paste (say Arctic Cooling MX-3 which I highly recommend), use a rice grain sized dab in the middle of the CPU. Some use a little more, about the size of a pea, but not any bigger.

As long as you're not going to be doing a huge OC, I think your cooler is fine. I would recommend replacing the fan with a Yate Loon SH for better static pressure and CFM.

if anybody wants my settings, here they are...I pretty much copied exactly what Juan Jose posted in the hard forum guide...I was able to get 4.8ghz no problem...

AI OVERCLOCK TUNER = MANUAL
BCLK/PEG FREQUENCY = 100
TURBO RATIO = BY PER CORE (CANNOT ADJUST IN OS)
INTERNAL PLL VOLTAGE = ENABLED
MEMORY FREQUENCY = whatever your memory speed is
EPU POWER SAVING MODE = DISABLED
LOAD LINE CALIBRATION = ULTRA HIGH
VRM FREQUENCY = MANUAL
VRM FIXED FREQUENCY MODE = 350
PHASE CONTROL = EXTREME
DUTY CONTROL = EXTREME
CPU CURRENT CAPABILITY = 100%
CPU VOLTAGE = MANUAL MODE
CPU MANUAL VOLTAGE = 1.425
DRAM VOLTAGE = whatever your factory is, mine is 1.5

Everything else, auto....YES I said that right, everything else was auto...JJ even states to leave EIST and C1E on...these features downclock the cpu when there isn't any load....older gen CPUs benefited from disabling these features...but JJ says to leave these alone EVEN when you overclock...I found it weird but I just went with his word and it has worked fine for me

Currently at 4.8ghz and 1.425vcore....OCCT Stable and 68C with a POS cpu cooler....once I get my Noctua D14 in and better flowing case, I want to hit 5.2ghz with 1.50vcore (if my cpu can get that high)
