In need of a good, but small cooler.

Hello all,

I recently bought a Xigmatek S1283 without thinking about RAM/Case space issues at all ! Its a few centemeters too tall for my case, and my RAM is too close to the cpu socket/too tall (I have corsair dominator RAM).

Right now, my RAM is about half a centemeter away from the edge of the stock cooler, and my motherboard only has 2 RAM slots can anyone recommend me a small but effective cpu cooler?

Get its smaller brother: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835233014
I had a similar issue - case too narrow for a tall cooler. This solved it. I also added a second fan for a push pull setup.

the s963 (3 heat pipes instead of the s964's 4 pipes) generally receives better temps b/c of the way the pipes are aligned on the 964, there is no pipe directly over the cpu die.

i had the same problem with space, i got the s963. my phenom idles high (37-40) but under prime95 and linx load only gets to 51 tops at 3.5ghz stock vcore (i'm still testing my temps to see how far i get). i got best temps using the thermal paste spread method

I always liked the H70/H50, because they won't have those problems, and don't warp the mobo a lot either. Dunno if that's an option.

This cooler would be fine, but my motherboards cpu bracket mounts up/down, not left/right, because of this it would conflict with my tall ram

In this case, go for a corsair h50. Small and preforms better than small air coolers

Not a problem as the 964 comes with the crossbow kit allowing you to orient the cooler whichever way you want. Also, it allows a second fan, which drops the temps 3 deg below the 963 http://www.overclock.net/air-cooling...freezer-2.html
