Did I get a dud i7 950? **Detailed info and pics inside**

I am pretty sure I did. Keep in mind that the voltages and temps below are with HT OFF. If I enable HT, req. voltages for stability and temps go through the roof.

Below are my screen shots of my stability runs with temps (I also ran memtest+ for 10 passes, but can't take a screen shot of that ). Below that is my detailed BIOS setting. The rig in question is my sig rig. I am cooling it with rasa cpu block, mp655 pump, a rx120 rs240 and a rx360 rad all with 1450rpm gentle typhoons in push/pull, with two 6870 full blocks in the loop.

Dropping any of the voltages causes crashes in running the tests listed above. Am I missing something in my bios or is this as good as it's going to get on my chip with HT off, 4.2 GHZ, at 1.31v?

4.2Ghz @ 1.31Vcore is pretty good.

Up the Vcore to 1.4 and see if you can push for 4.4Ghz+

that's about an average 950 , they didn't have that many great clocking batches.. i seen a few that do 4.5 under 1.4v but not many.

Yours is a little better than mine.

Mine uses these voltages:
4.00Ghz = 1.264v
4.20Ghz = 1.328v
4.40Ghz = 1.376v

Nice. My 930 can do:

4.01 @ 1.225v
4.2 @ 1.28125v
4.3 (HT On ) @1.375v
4.4 @ ... 1.4+ ... still testing :x

Keep testing yours! Let's see what the "animal" is made off

From what I have researched, these temps and volts would be only average with HT on. I have HT off...

You know that each chip is different... i'm building a log about my 930 overclock ... it's been hard to find a pattern you know ...

Getting 4.4Ghz stable at daily friendly voltages is a pain in the arse ... :x

For instance, in your sig you have HT on, at 4.0GHZ at 1.25v.

My chip, with HT OFF, requires 1.27v at 4.0Ghz.
