Even though there are TWO black wires in the center of the Molex connector, just make sure that the black wire you picked was the 12VDC ground and not the 5VDC.

If you mixed the two black ground wires, strange things can happen on the both the 12VDC and 5VDC rails in the PSU. Your rails will be unequally balanced. If a spike or unclean power runs on the 12VDC rail and needs to run to ground, the 5VDC ground rail may get charged can can not handle the over-voltage load.
