Dell Dimension E520 with locked BIOS 4Ghz. on QX6800.

This is the result I got taking the fan off of the MB, and unplugging the PWM wire.

Well the LED's I found have some type of resistor or something inline that allow them to run at 12v, some others I have run at only 5v. It doesn't have to be an LED you could actually test with another fan. Just de-pin the 12v and Ground and put them in to your 4pin connector that goes to motherboard header. Obviously it shouldn't give you a no fan error then, but I think it should still be a valid test if completing the circuit matters or not tongue.gif

Thanks for the reply. I tried a 30ma LED no cure but that one didn't list a resistor, I have a 15ma to try it lists 680 ohm resistor in spec. If that doesn't work I have a small expansion slot blower I can try. Might try blower first I'm running it anyway

I learned that in the world of Dell error messages stay in SYSLOG until you enter BIOS and manually clear them.
I installed slot fan and got a restart, and full reboot without error message. Ran Prime 95 and performance is OK. The error did return once "out of range" in SYSLOG. so maybe add an LED in series if needed.

That BIOS must be really picky or sensitive. I suppose it could be referring to your RPM being out of range.

I finally got it figured, after trying LEDs fans, resistors. Got on the Dell fan problem message boards and found the secret setting to disable fan test. First clear SYSLOG in "maimtenance", then disable "report keyboard errors in "POST" section. This turn off fan error messages also. Who new?

I'd like to thank you guys for giving me the idea to run the fan off Molex even though my MB supports Delta fans. It freed up huge amounts of wattage for my CPU. It was worth about 1 whole multiplier, and 5*C by letting me run lower volts now that the Delta 1.6A. fan is elsewhere.

Also for making me aware of the GFB1212VHG fan that bolted right into my Dell BTX. Don't let the U tube videos fool you it's quieter than my original fan was under overclocked conditions. Obviously I'm very happy with this mod.

Well my error message is back. Not sure what to try next.

Does anyone know if fake/counterfeit Delta fans exist on aliexpress.com?

I found some TFC1212DE-SP07 for $8.93 a piece shipped when you order 3 or more, and I am considering grabbing a few to play around with.

They might be refurbs. Thus the price.

All my Deltas range about $3.00 each bare-wire.

On a side note:

what happened to @DaveLT?

BTX computers are being scrapped all the time, and every one of then had a Delta or similar fan. No one wants the old computers so there's little demand for the parts. It's just huge supply and almost no demand. Go to your local computer recycler and you'll see pallets of old Dell, and HP business computers being scrapped.

Not that I agree with the guy's antics but it's weird that his last post goes back last March. Unless he got definitely banned or something like that.
