I'm not saying you made a mistake buying these, I'm trying to point out to other people reading the thread how good watercooling your GPUs is.

As for proof, ask anyone with a full cover or core only block what their maximum load temperatures is, most people will answer something in the 40-50C range (Depending on card model).

I used to have an MCW60 on a GTS 250 and at 800 core I loaded at 36C.
Read my conclusion AGAIN....

Stock settings and voltage, I can hit 850Mhz with stock voltage. Nearly a 15c drop from over clocked settings. This is also with Extreme burn mode, Games will NEVER get the card as hot as this.

I emailed XSPC about this and I had an email from Paul Lockey who is a cracking helpful guy as he offered to send me another 2 sets of mounting hardware so I could mount the block using all 4 holes on 5850's PCB ( Not fitted in the pics ) to give better mounting pressure.

Yeah I emailed them also do you want to know what the guy said to me.

Hi *****,
You can stack the mounting plates and use 4 holes to mount the GPU block.

We sell a mounting plate and screw set to do this. See the bottom of the page.

The only problem is the X2O VGA block is discontinued, so it might be difficult to source a mounting kit.

That sucks, Although you can't expect them to give everyone some extra mounting hardware.

Saying there hard to come buy is a bit rubbish though...

While I appreciate the time spent on this review, I think the conclusion here should be one of two things. 1) don't buy this block because it performs terribly or 2) be careful mounting this block because it's hard to get a proper mount (Your temperatures are indicative of a bad mount, which is understandable with only two mounting screws).

I don't think Charliehorse was trying to be a troll or anything. His point is the same as mine, the numbers aren't good for water cooling. Either the block is just terrible, or there's an issue with the mount. Maybe try a re-seat or wait until you get a 4 screw mounting plate?

im not sure what to think of these blocks cant hold a candle to my ek block that i can run 1.5 yes 1.5 and the temps dont go over 41c on the core lol. But if you get them for 20 pounds like you said they arent all that bad for that price but sounds like they were discontinued for a reason bad mounting hardware and has been replaced with a better model now.

Bloody oath I can, they didn't have an issue giving it to you.

Noctua gave me numerous case badges, stickers, thermal paste and a set of fan clips, last time I checked it's called customer service. They did this for free and sent it all from over in Europe to Australia.

But since then I wrote back and mentioned you, and they came back and said.

We can offer them free in the UK but it’s expensive to ship them worldwide.

BS

They charge for a discontinued product then cry poverty when it comes to customer support.

remember it will support a newer card too!

so if you want to change your card you can just put the block on the new card!

the GTX5XX series got a cover that you can use to cool the PCB and this block will cool the core only its pretty cool

if they made anything like this that cool better the core even if it cost more 100% I am buying it!
it will make you never have a need to get a new full cover block again you can just sell the cards and get new one!
