I built this set up with overclocking in mind, however I am a noob when it comes to actually overclocking.. I have read a lot of post talking about timings etc and I don't really know where to start.. Any help would be appreciated.

I want to get to a nice stable overclock on my CPU and Ram.

Thank you in advance.

By the way, what benchmark program should I use, I was going to DL 3dMark11, but that does not work with windows XP..

Alright I DLed it from here: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/pro...2952&dl=1#bios

which way should I flash it:
http://www.gigabyte.com/webpage/20/H...flashBIOS.html

Quote:
Three BIOS Flash Utilities...
We provide three BIOS flash utilities at our website. Below are the overviews.
1 :
A BIOS flash utility embedded in Flash ROM. Not all motherboards have the Q-Flash, please use @BIOS or DOS flash utility to update BIOS if your motherboard does not have Q-Flash.

Features-- With this utility, you only have to stay in the BIOS menu when you want to update BIOS. No need to enter DOS or O.S. mode.
Caution-- Make sure you have a functional floppy disk with the correct BIOS version for your motherboard.
Download PDF User Guide
2 :
A Windows-based BIOS live update utility.

Features-- @BIOS helps you search for, download, and then update the latest BIOS in Windows operating system.
Caution-- Make sure your O.S. environment is stable.
Download PDF User Guide
3 : DOS Flash utility

Features-- The flash utility is a combination of AMI and AWARD BIOS flash utility. You can use it with both AMI and AWARD BIOS.
Caution-- Make sure you have a functional DOS boot disk with the correct BIOS version for your motherboard.
Download PDF User Guide
I just checked and I am on Bios F3.. I was reading up on Qflash (http://www.gigabyte.com/webpage/20/i...ios_qflash.pdf) and it says
Quote:
With Q-Flash™ utility, please do not cross too many BIOS versions at one time if your current BIOS version is rather old. For example, do not cross from F1 to F12, but to flash from F1 to F4 and F4 to F8 and so on.
.. can I go from F3 to F9?

Or should I throw in f5 or something first?

Edit: Sorry, did not see what Gigabyte's page said about flashing. Looks like this is only true when using Qflash?

So I'd suggest you do what they say.. Go from F3 to F5 and then to the later. Just to play things safe

Read an overclocking guide 2-3 times. Do the basics, then come back when you run into probs.
