Well I honestly don't know about the 460 Hawks, so I'll take your word for it.
However you are wrong about the 1Ghz 6870 being slower than a 1Ghz 5850.
Here's the proof:
My own loyal 6870 at stock voltage;
And a 5850 @ 1Ghz, and 1.25V (courtesy of porky and the 5800 @1ghz thread);

EDIT: Also, it is generally unfair to compare stock components to OC'd components as did in that review... I'm pretty sure that my 6870s @1000/1150 will surely score higher... Actually these guys are even better than a stock GTX 480 SLI config... but see? that isn't a fair comparison since GTX 480s can also be overclocked...
