G.Skill Ripjaws X vs not X

Thread Starter
hey guys,
What's the difference? I can see the different sticker and heat spreader, but other than that? One is advertised a P55 and the other "Designed Specifically for Intel Sandy Bridge CPUs and P67 Platforms". I'm only asking because I'm hoping to go to the store tomorrow. If I can't find the blue Ripjaws X Series ones, would the Ripjaws (not X) Series work just as well? I don't see why they both wouldn't be fine for SB, right?

I don't really see a difference. I'm using RAM that is "for the P55 chipset" on my Sandybridge Rig.

Thanks. That's kinda what I figured. I just wanted some reassurance. So the X series is just a different heat spreader really.

I have the 4 gig kit of the older Ripjaws 1600 Cas 7 ...
Ordered em for my Sandy Bridge build.. Have them running 1600 mhz 6 8 6 24 2T timings on stock voltage...
Also note newegg shows my ram's PCB to be green but it is indeed black..
I'd be willing to bet a fingernail that the 8 gig kit is black PCB as well.

I bought mine for the black on black
also it's rated to run at 1.5v ..
but for the most part it looks like they rebranded their older series
