AT&T 2Wire Upgrade Needed

Thread Starter
I have a 2701HG-B Gateway and it gives pretty crappy signal strength and is always giving broadband link errors. Therefore I need an upgrade

However, I do not know if this unit is a modem, router, or both....

How can I tell? What upgrades would be my best best.

I have six people in my family and I am the only one who connects via Ethernet. The rest are wireless. I do alot of gaming and use the internet for my school work as well as just everyday things.

Recommend me a new unit please

Any information is greatly appreciated

What you have right now is a modem/router combo. You have a lot of options in this situation. If you still want a combo, I would recommend this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833122314 Another option would be to bridge your current 2wire device and make it into a dumb modem and plug in the router of your choice and use a PPPOE connection type. If you want a new modem, I would recommend this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16825112008 and you can plug in the router of your choice. All of these are good option and the router you choose really depends on your price range. I would probably recommend this as a good value: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833127254
