Can't go past 3.5 on 925

Thread Starter
Hey guys, I've tried to get past 3.5 on my PII 925, but haven't had any luck. 257x14 @ 1.525Vcore BSODs in prime95 after 10 mins. I've tried maxing the Vcore to 1.55 and still BSODs, although after 3 hours. Anyone have any ideas?

The rest of the voltages are stock, and NB/HT/Ram speeds are as close to stock as possible - same goes for RAM timings.

Would increasing NB-CPU voltage help at all? Or is that just for NB overclocking?

@1.55Vcore my max temps in prime are 52.5C.

System is posted below.

That's your problem: the RAM.
You've got generic 1333 CL9 RAM.
Don't expect to get far overclocking with the ref. clock. Generic RAM can and will hold you back.

I figured the RAM wasn't that great; however, even if I underclock the RAM, I still can't get past 3.5GHZ.

You both have 7xx motherboards. Maybe you hit the FSB wall on them?

Bump the NB voltage (not the CPU/NB), it can help with high fsb frequencies. Also bump the ram a little bit.

If that doesn't work i would try increasing the CPU/NB voltage a little bit.

I shall try bumping the NB voltage and report back with results.

Thanks, guys!
